Our Story

In the beginning:

Dennis and Barb Yeazel grew up in Iowa and developed early love of horses. After graduating college, they began the busy work of providing for and raising a family. For many years, horses were no longer in their lives, but passion for them never disappeared.

The next chapter:

In 2012, Dennis and Barb acquired their first Quarter Horse, Lacey Moon Doll (Lacey), and boarded her a few miles from their home in Ankeny, Iowa. Two years later, they developed land and established a 4-stall barn, 80x120 insulated arena, paddocks and pastures. The arena is used for open riding and also features bridges, teeter totter, cowboy curtain and numerous other obstacles for training and horse fun. By the time the move was ready to be made, Barb and Dennis had added Miss Blue Dreamer (Blue) and Super Smooth Domino (Domino) to the family.

The farm grows:

The Quarter Horse has been a long time favorite for arena riding, trail riding, show and gaming. However, Barb and Dennis also dreamed of adding a particular breed of horse to their farm. In 2014, the couple visited the Feathered Gold Stables (owned and operated by Denise and Derek Krause) and one year later, Feathered Gold Infiniti (Izzie) came home to Feathers and Lace. The Feathered Gypsy Vanner horse makes a wonderful family horse and is popular in trail, show, pulling carts, and therapy. Since Izzie’s arrival, Feathered Gold Finntastic Grandeur (Noble) and Feathered Gold Denali (Ali) have also joined Feathers and Lace Farm. In 2020, Thorn Hill LDR Whiskeys Rebel Yell aka Rebel joined the farm. Our mares foals have gone to Tennessee, Texas, Nebraska, Iowa, Virginia and Indiana.

Future Plans:

Feathers and Lace began offering introduction to riding to riders of all ages. Focusing on fun and safety. Poco Bay May (May) is patient and a gentle horse for the beginning rider. My Classic Lace (Charley)and Miss Blue Dreamer (Blue) are for the intermediate rider. Dennis and Barb also host various horse clinics as they continue to enrich their farm.
